The National Youth Council of Nigeria is the statutory youth apex body saddled with youth mobilization across the 3 tiers of government towards the implementation of National/State Youths Policies. The council is mandated as a statutory responsiblity to work with the governement in the youth policy formulation and implementation
The National Youth Council of Nigeria was established by an Act of Parliament on the 16th of August, 1964, and reinvigorated by the National Youth Policy of 3rd February, 2001, and that of 2009 as the umbrella body, apex, authoritative mouth-piece for the Nigerian Youths (including all voluntary uniform organizations, faith-based youth organization, community-based youth organization with chapters and branches in all states and local governments in Nigeria).
The National Youth Council of Nigeria is dedicated to streamlining and organizing the activities of her members throughout the nation and making the youths more relevant towards national development. However, it is note worthy that the Southwest zone gave birth to the National Youth Council of Nigeria in 1964 and Ogun State produced the first National President of the Council.
