youth council flags off youth empowerment training with first batch of apprentices in abeokuta north local government

Towards building the capacity of its members and making them self reliant, the Abeokuta North Branch of the National Youth Council of Nigeria on Wednesday, July 1st 2020, kickstarted the first batch of its free apprenticeship training and empowerment programme with a total number of 30 apprentices.

The beneficiaries, to be trained for a period of six months, are to be exposed to new trends in Fashion Designing, Hair Dressing, Barbing and Graphic designs.

Speaking at the flag off ceremony held at the Abeokuta North Local Government Secretariat, Akomoje, the Branch Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Ojo, disclosed that the training program was part of efforts to alleviate sufferings among youths, adding that beneficiaries would be given equipments free of charge to start their individual businesses at the end of the training.

He gave the thumbs up to the sponsor, Oluseyi Bisiriyu Foundation, and the leadership of Abeokuta North Local Government for their support and collaboration which has helped in no small measure to make the branch's dream on Youth empowerment come true.

Admonishing the Beneficiaries, the State Chairman of NYCN, His Youthfulness, Abduljabar Ayelaagbe, reminded them that to whom much is given, much is expected, and that they should make good use of the rare opportunity of the training to ensure a turnaround in their lives.

On his part, the Chairman of the local Government, Prince Tunde Tella, who was represented by the Director of Community Services, Mr. Oladele Dawud, declared that the Council was excited to be part of the initiative and would be actively involved in monitoring the progress recorded by the beneficiaries.

In his remarks, representative of the Oluseyi Bisiriyu Foundation, Hon. Kaka Segun, pointed out that the Foundation was established to assist government alleviate sufferings of the citizenry, having realized that government cannot do it all alone. Hon. Kaka also disclosed that the equipment to be given to the beneficiary had already been procured, which includes Sowing Machines, Hair dryer and Washing Basins, and Clippers amongst others, promising that the Foundation will continually collaborate with similar organizations towards making living more meaningful in the society.

Responding on behalf of others, two of the beneficiaries, Ibukun Ogunbiyi and Adekunle Rebecca commended the sponsors for sparing a thought for them, promising not to disappoint them.
