ogun cp appoints youth council chairman as member of state community policing committee

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Ajogun, has appointed the State Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter, Com. Abdul-Jabar Ayelaagbe, as a member of the State Community Policing Committee.

In a letter dated August 21, 2020, CP Edward Ajogun approved the appointment of Ayelaagbe in his capacity as the representative of the Youths of Ogun State. The letter in part reads, “Your duty amongst others is to convene a general meeting at the end of every quarter to review the community-policing activities in the LGAs and develop, or unveil new approaches to community policing based on challenges, successes and need to achieve optimum results.”

Reacting to the appointment, Ayelaagbe commended the Commissioner of Police on the professional coordination of the Police Force in the state since his assumption of office. “It is a good development that the youth constituency is not only recognized but well represented in this laudable initiative against crime. It is an avenue to promote the readiness of the youths in ensuring a safer environment for all. Community policing requires a collaborative effort to succeed, and the youths of Ogun State are ready to see this come true,” he said.

The membership inauguration has been scheduled to hold on Wednesday 26th of August, 2020, by 1100hrs, at the State Headquarters, Eleweran.
