herdsmen crisis: “tighten security at our border communities” – youth council urges ogun state government

The youth leadership of Ogun State has called on Governor Dapo Abiodun and Security Chiefs in Ogun State to enhance collaboration for an effective and efficient policing across the borders, particularly between Ogun and Oyo state.

Addressing the youth leaders of the twenty local governments, via a zoom meeting on Monday January 25, 2021, over the likelihood of more security breach owing to the recent displacement of Fulani herdsmen in Ibarapa and the banning of open grazing in Southwest Nigeria, Ogun State Youth Chairman, Com. Abdul-Jabar Ayelaagbe commended the state government for exploring all security measures to ensure Ogun State remains the safest state in the entire southwest region of Nigeria.

However, making reference to the recently confirmed attack on a woman, by some criminal herdsmen, in Ijebu Ode and a few incidents of threats being rumored, Ayelaagbe charged the state government to further improve security grip at our border communities where more activities of criminal herdsmen are likely to be recorded.

Conclusively, Ayelaagbe encouraged the youths of Ogun State to remain watchful of their surroundings and provide timely information to the youth leadership and relevant security agencies without fear of intimidation.
