ogun 2021 lg elections: “take advantage of your numbers to determine how you will be governed,” ogsiec chairman urges youth.

The Chairman of Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, has urged the Youths of Ogun State to remain firm in their pursuit for good governance.

Addressing the audience at the 2nd Stakeholder's meeting on the forthcoming 2021 Local Government Elections in Ogun State, Osibodu encouraged the Youths to to take advantage of their numbers to determine those who are to govern them.

The speech reads in part, “No doubt, the success of this election lies in your hands. Make sure you are not intimidated. 

“We urge all stakeholders to carry out your duties as we do ours. Our pledge, as the electoral umpire, is that we shall count your votes and your votes shall count,” Osibodu affirmed. 

Responding to Osibodu's call to service, the State Chairman of Ogun State Youth Council, Com. Abdul-Jabar Ayelaagbe, assured the OGSIEC Chairman of the youths' preparedness to contribute to the success of the election.

“The youth leadership of Ogun State, on behalf of the entire Youths, hereby reiterate our assurance to positively promote all democratic processes towards the success of the forthcoming elections.

“With the support of well-meaning Stakeholders, we are set to also embark on a vigorous campaign against electoral malpractices and violence. 

“We charged our youths to remain hopeful for a promising electoral outcome with the pledge of the Electoral Umpire that our votes shall truly count,” Ayelaagbe said.

The 2nd Stakeholders' Meeting was held at the Commission's Premises today May 28, 2021.
