NYCN PRO, Ogun Waterside Branch.
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Ogun Waterside Branch has donated 60 leaves exercise books to Secondary School Students in Ogun Waterside Local Government.
The Coordinator of the Youth Council, Comrade Olufowobi Taiwo said that the NYCN Ogun Waterside branch initiated this gesture to alleviate the cost of educational materials.
Some of the recent beneficiaries of the first phase of free exercise books donation include students of Makun Omi Comprehensive High School, Afire Community Secondary School, and Ilushin Grammar School.
In his opening remarks at Ilushin Grammar School, Ilushin, Comrade Olufowobi admonished the students to make judicious use of the exercise books donated to them.
“However, we are not limiting the distribution of exercise books to these three Schools, we are taking it to all secondary schools in Ogun Waterside. Other secondary schools will be captured in the second phase,” Olufowobi said.
A stakeholder of NYCN Ogun Waterside, Comrade Sulaimon Balogun said the education of children should not be left to the government and parents alone. Hence NYCN Ogun Waterside is playing its modest part not only as of the umbrella and coordinating body for all youth organizations but also as a body that values education with belief that education is the key to social modernity.
"Donation of exercise books is a token but it is important as students will be encouraged to take notes and participate actively during class lessons,” he added.
NYCN Ogun Waterside commenced distribution of free exercise books to Ogun Waterside secondary school students about a week ago and more exercise books are expected to be given out to Ogun Waterside secondary school students during the second phase of the program.
