abeokuta north youth council inaugurates another set of forty youths for its empowerment programme
Youths have been admonished to channel their mindset toward becoming a business owner and employers of labour rather than being job seekers. This was the summary of the advise given by the Director of Youth Development, Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mr Adetokunbo Salami in his key note address at the inauguration ceremony of the second batch empowerment program organized by the National Youth Council Nigeria, Abeokuta North Local Government Branch, held on the 9th of November, 2021 at the Local Government Secretariat.
“It is no more news that Nigeria economy is diversifying from certificate economy to entrepreneurial economy” he added.
He further lauded the efforts of the leadership of Youth Council Abeokuta North Branch, referencing the achievement of the council at the first batch, praying for God's guidance and provision to succeed in the second batch.
The Chairman, Abeokuta North Local Government, Prince Ayorinde Adebayo ably represented by Hon Yusuf appreciated the efforts of the Youth Council, Abeokuta North for their efforts at ensuring that Youths in the local Government are not idle, noting that an idle hand is the devil's workshop, he added that this effort will engage the youths and also make them self sufficient which will metamorphose to a reduction of social vices in the community. He however promised that his tenure shall give necessary support to the council at ensuring the success of the program.
In his opening speech, the Coordinator, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Abeokuta North Branch, Comrade Enitan Emmanuel Ojo charged the beneficiaries to take the bull by the horn on the privilege given to them, narrating that over 200 applications were received, out of which 40 were selected for the training and empowerment, while admonishing the Trainers to train the beneficiaries with sincerity and fear of God.
The State Chairman, NYCN, Ogun State, Comrade Abduljabaar Ayelaagbe, while presenting Training Payment cheque to one of the Trainers also lauded the efforts of the Council and urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the opportunity given to them.
The inauguration ceremony had in attendance other eminent personalities, some of which are Abeokuta North Zonal CDC Chairman, Hon. Ajagunjeun, The Youth Officer, Mr Akanbi, The NYCN State Excos, Com Lawrence Enitan, Representatives of Sagamu Council Branch and the Representatives of the First Batch Empowerment Beneficiaries who also gave their experiences during their training and what they are now earning from the kind gesture of the Council.
