The alarming rate of civil abuses by some operational men of the Nigeria Customs Service is obviously giving a wrong perception about the repute of its human-centered leadership in Ogun State.

Amidst growing worries of sustaining the peaceful conduct of businesses, and freedom from fear of harassment, the State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria has taken another step ahead to consolidate on previous efforts (including a Walk against Customs’ Killings and a Stakeholders meeting with immediate past Comptroller of Customs, Rtd. Compt. Kolo and immediate past DSS boss, Mr David Tuska;) made earlier this year; the State Youth leadership on Wednesday December 15, 2021, visited the new Comptroller of Ogun 1 Area Command of the Nigerian Customs Service, Comptroller DA Nnadi to further drive synergy between the Customs' service and the youth constituency.

Ayelaagbe, in his remark, congratulated the Comptroller on his recent promotion and subsequent deployment to Ogun 1 as he extolled the virtues of Comptroller DA Nnadi as an Officer of outstanding repute whose dedication to the principles of humanity has been remarkable particularly while serving as the Deputy Comptroller in charge of Administration.

Citing reports that bother on civil concerns, Ayelaagbe lamented indiscriminate shootings in towns and villages, the outrageous numbers of checkpoint and conduct of Customs Officers on the road, the misuse of Camp Boys, a public feedback mechanism, and the need for periodical capacity–building for Officers of the Nigeria Customs Service to be more strategic and civil in their constitutional duties.

In his response, Comptroller DA Nnadi lauded the youth leadership for the active representation of the youths particularly as a leading Stakeholder in the State. He empathized with the reports on experiences garnered from the youth leaders as he immediately directed the setup of a help-desk to enable him access direct feedback from the public for prompt response and appropriate supervision of his command.

The youth delegation also witnessed the commissioning of additional operational vehicles received by the Command from the Headquarters.
