The southwest members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, alongside some ICT experts, were participants at a recently concluded Innovation Forum organized by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC)  held on June 10-11, 2019.

The event centered on disruptive thinking to provide solutions to ICT challenges, by Tech hubs and Academicians, was coordinated by the Department of Research and Development, NCC. 

In her Welcome Address, the Director of Research & Development, NCC, Mrs. Ephraim Nwokonneya, stated that “The Nigerian Communications Commission has conceptualized this ICT Innovation Forum with the objective, amongst others, to assist communications industry stakeholders and practitioners with a view to encourage introduction of innovative services and practices in line with international practices and trends towards sustaining development of digital infrastructure and consistently attaining the objectives of its enabling law, of the Nigerian Communications Act (NCA), 2003. This forum has targeted participation by a broad spectrum of Stakeholders with the aim also to foster collaboration and value creation partnership among the stakeholders.”

The event held at Tayo Aderinokun Hall, University of Lagos, had in attendance Youth Council representatives from Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, and Lagos, and stakeholders in ICT and Tech hubs.

Eminent personalities also present includes the CEO of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta; the Vice Chancellor of UNILAG, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe;  Prof. G. Aderounmu, President of Nigeria Computer Society, among others.
