2019 international day for tolerance: a call for a united youth of ogun state.

The State Chairman of the Council, Com. Abdul-Jabar Ayelagbe, on behalf of the Gateway Youth, joins the rest of the world in celebrating the 2019 International Tolerance Day - a day set aside by the United Nations to foster mutual understanding among peoples of different socio-cultural backgrounds.

The leadership of the Council urges all Youth of Ogun State to imbibe the spirit of tolerating another regardless of religious, political or cultural differences. Tolerance, as opposed to being misunderstood as a sign of weakness, is unarguably a virtue that can only be possessed by strong humans.

As rightly stated by a UNESCO Chief, Ms. Azoulay, “Tolerance is to realize that cultural diversity is a form of wealth, not a factor of division”.

To further drive today's global message, the Council directed the use of customized artworks on Tolerance across all social media platforms; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp...

All Branch Coordinators and Heads of Organizations are also enjoined, via the use of the Council’s customized artworks, to share a message on Tolerance with Youth of Ogun State on the various membership platforms.

We remain firm in the belief that by tolerating another, and by avoidance of excesses, we can build stronger men for stronger institutions.

Yours in youth development,

Akolawole Shoremi
State Secretary
National Youth Council of Nigeria
Ogun State Chapter.
