The leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter, has issued a directive to Coordinators of its local branches across the twenty local governments to set up a monitoring committee to ensure public compliance with the state government's ban on high density gathering.

In an internal memorandum signed by the State Secretary of the Council, the Council's Chairman, Com. Abdul-Jabar Ayelaagbe directed every leadership of the local branches to immediately birth a Monitoring Team for her local government.

Citing the guidelines on Covid-19 as important measures that should not be downplayed by anyone, Ayelaagbe reminded the youths on the need to complement government's effort for desirable outcome on the campaign against the virus.

The local branches have also been urged to step up the awareness on Covid-19. The statement reads in part,

“Henceforth, we recommend you begin take evidences (pictures and videos), without fear or favour, to report breach of the state government's directive by any corporate entity or group of people against the assembly of over fifty (50) people.

“Each Monitoring Team is also expected to observe the shut down of schools and rate of density at religious or social gatherings.

“Please note that your team is not empowered to enforce this directive as there is already a government's team in place. Each team is only encouraged to monitor compliance level and report where there is a breach.

“The war against Covid-19 cannot be left to the government alone. Therefore, you are appealed to also promote awareness on the guidelines.
